Description
What it is
ZIP System™ flashing tape is a four-layer pressure-sensitive tape built for one job: sealing the seams and rough openings of ZIP System™ sheathing. Acrylic adhesive, a bonding layer, a dimensionally stable polyolefin core, and a slip-resistant surface you can still walk on.
The 3.75″ width is the seam width — it is what you run down every panel joint on the wall. For window and door openings most crews step up to 6″.
ZIP System tape vs. DuPont butyl flashing tape
These are not interchangeable. Different adhesive chemistry, different system, different warranty.
| ZIP System Tape | DuPont Flashing Tape | |
| Adhesive | Acrylic, heat and UV resistant | 100% butyl |
| Install temperature | Down to 0°F | Down to 25°F |
| Exposure period | 180 days | 120 days |
| Warranty | 30-year system warranty with ZIP System™ sheathing | 10-year with Tyvek® WRB |
| Roller required | Yes | No |
| Designed for | ZIP System™ sheathing overlay | Tyvek® and general WRB |
If the wall is ZIP System™ sheathing, use ZIP System™ tape. Taping a ZIP wall with a different manufacturer’s product is how a 30-year warranty stops being a 30-year warranty.

Installation — the part that causes callbacks
The roller is not optional. This is a pressure-sensitive tape. It must be rolled in with a ZIP System™ roller to reach maximum bond. Pressing it down by hand or with a gloved thumb leaves you with a seam that looks sealed and is not.
You also need:
- A dry substrate, free of frost and debris
- Ambient air and substrate above 0°F
- The wall covered within 180 days
Do not use it as:
- A substitute for self-adhering ice and water barrier in roofing applications
How much you need
90 ft per roll. On 4 ft wide sheathing panels, vertical seams on an 8 ft wall are 8 ft each:
- Roughly 11 panel seams per roll
- A typical single-story house: plan on 3 to 4 rolls for the field seams
Buying more than a few? The Case of 12 is the better unit for a whole house or a subdivision.
Clearance and open-box stock
Odd rolls we would rather move than store. The product inside is new and factory-sealed in both cases — what is discounted is the packaging, not the tape.
- ZIP System Flashing Tape 3.75″ × 90 ft — clearance — $30.99. Carton shows dirt and wear from storage
- ZIP System Stretch Tape 6″ × 75 ft — open box — $100 instead of $145. New unused roll, original carton missing. Stretches into sill pans and corners in one piece
The rest of the ZIP System tape line
This 3.75-inch roll is the seam specialist — linerless, cheap per foot, fast down a straight sheet joint. Huber makes wider flashing tape for the details it cannot cover in one piece, and a separate stretch tape for the ones that have to conform:
- Flashing Tape 6″ × 75′ — Huber’s standard for panel seams, windows and doors. Linered, where this roll is linerless
- Flashing Tape 9″ × 50′ — outside corners, with about 4½ in of coverage per face instead of two lapped strips
- Flashing Tape 12″ × 50′ — roof valleys in one piece, and the width Huber points at Type III roof panel seams
- Stretch Tape 6″ × 75′ — a different product at 42 mils: it stretches into sill pans and corners where flat tape has to be cut and lapped
The stretch tape comes in four sizes: 6″ × 20′ and 6″ × 75′ for standard sills, and 10″ × 20′ or 10″ × 75′ when the wall is deep enough that a 6-inch pan runs out of material before it can turn up.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use this on a wall that is not ZIP System sheathing?
The adhesive is engineered for the ZIP System™ overlay. On a Tyvek® or standard WRB wall, use a butyl flashing tape instead.
Do I really need the roller?
Yes. Huber specifies that the tape must be rolled in to achieve maximum bond. It is the single most common installation mistake with this product.
How cold can I install it?
Down to 0°F (-18°C), with the substrate dry and frost-free.
How long can it stay exposed?
180 days maximum before the wall needs to be covered.
Is this genuine Huber?
Yes. New, factory-sealed product in original packaging. Not generic, not repackaged.
How fast does it ship?
We ship next business day from Cypress, TX.
