Description
What it is — and when 6″ is the right width
OX ArticFLASH is a butyl-based synthetic flashing tape (butyl is a synthetic rubber) built for self-adhered window, door, and seam flashing. It is peel-n-stick with high initial tack, needs no primer and no mechanical fasteners, and installs in the cold — down to 0°F — where most butyl and asphalt tapes stop bonding.
The 6″ width is the standard window roll: it covers window and door jambs and heads in a single pass, with enough width to lap the rough opening onto the sheathing. For narrow seams and penetration detailing, use the 4″; for a fully bonded sill pan that stretches into the corners, look at a stretch flashing.
How it compares to DuPont Flashing Tape
| OX ArticFLASH | DuPont Flashing Tape | |
|---|---|---|
| Adhesive | Butyl (synthetic rubber) | Butyl |
| Installs down to | 0°F | 25°F |
| UV exposure | 6 months | 120 days (~4 months) |
| Warranty | 15 years | 10 years |
| AAMA 711 | Meets or exceeds 711-20 | Class A, Level 3 (highest documented level) |
| Price (6″) | $40 | $41.99 |
Straight talk: if your spec names an AAMA 711 performance level, DuPont documents Class A, Level 3. If it doesn’t, ArticFLASH installs colder, tolerates more sun, carries a longer warranty, and comes in a little cheaper.

Installation notes
Requires: a clean, dry, frost-free surface. No primer on common construction substrates. Roll or press firmly to wet out the adhesive and get full contact. Shingle-lap each course so upper pieces overlap lower ones.
Not for: through-wall flashing, or as a substitute for a roofing ice & water membrane.
How much you need
75 ft per roll. Quick math for the 6″:
- Standard window jambs and head (both sides plus the top): ~5 windows per roll
- Door jambs and head: ~4 doors per roll

Frequently asked questions
Is ArticFLASH the same as OX Butyl Flashing Tape?

Can I install it in cold weather?
Down to 0°F. That is the main reason to reach for it over a standard flashing tape in winter.
Do I need a primer?
No, not on common construction substrates.
How long can it stay exposed before I close the wall?
Up to 6 months of UV exposure.
How fast does it ship?
Within next business day from Cypress, TX.
