The sill-pan production roll
Huber’s stated best use for the 6-inch × 75 ft stretch roll is window sill pans, and the length is what makes it a production item: enough footage to pan every opening on a house without opening a new box halfway through the elevation.
Flashing tape does not stretch. At a sill pan corner that leaves you cutting, folding and lapping — building a joint at the exact spot where water collects. Stretch tape solves it by conforming: it pulls in all directions, so the pan and both upturned corners come out of one continuous piece with nothing to lap.

Most crews run both: stretch tape on the sills where the corners are, flashing tape on the jambs and heads where the run is flat. Three and a half times the thickness costs money — spend it where the geometry actually needs it.

How many openings a roll pans
A sill pan run is the width of the rough opening plus both corners turned up onto the jambs. Budget roughly a foot per corner:

A house with 12 to 15 openings is usually one roll for the sills. If the plan is heavy on doors and sliders, or the walls are thick enough that 6 in of pan does not reach, step up to the 10-inch roll. If you only have a few openings to pan, the 6″ × 20 ft roll costs a lot less to keep on the truck.

Installation notes
You need:
- A dry substrate, free of frost, dust, dirt and proud fasteners
- A rubber-headed roller — seat the flat of the pan first, then work the stretched corners
- Backer rod or similar backing in any gap wider than 1/2 in, before taping
- Air, substrate and tape all at 0°F or above at the time of application
- The window or door manufacturer’s own sill pan instructions — Huber says to follow them, and they govern
Do not use it for:
- A substitute for self-adhering ice and water barrier
- Fire caulking around heat-generating exhaust vents, such as dryer vents

Frequently asked questions
How much does it actually stretch?
Huber does not publish a percentage — the specification they do publish is 225 psi tensile strength, and the product is described as stretching in all directions to fit sills, curves and corners in a single piece. In practice it conforms to a standard sill pan corner without cutting.
What about roof penetrations? The box says roof.
It does, and that trips people up. Huber’s packaging lists wall and roof penetrations among the applications, while the product data sheet describes the code recognition under IAPMO ER-365 as covering window, door and wall penetrations. Two Huber documents, two different scopes.
Practical answer: for a roof detail that an inspector will look at, work from the code listing, not the box — confirm with your AHJ, or use ZIP System Flashing Tape, which carries roof recognition under ICC-ES ESR-2227.
Do I still need flashing tape if I buy this?
For most jobs, yes. This is the sill and corner product; jambs, heads and panel seams are flat runs where flashing tape is faster and cheaper.
Is it repositionable?
It can be pulled up and reapplied during installation, which is why the liner matters — but the bond builds under pressure, so once it is rolled, treat it as set.
How cold can I install it?
Down to 0°F, with the air, substrate and tape all at or above that and the surface frost-free.
Does it work over exterior insulation?
It bonds to the listed substrates including PVC and vinyl. On thick assemblies the question is usually width, not adhesion — if the pan has to reach across foam plus sheathing, look at the 10-inch.
